4th Annual Fundraising Dinner

Anpuneri’s fourth Annual Dinner featured a full program including traditional lamp lighting, National Anthem and Thamil Thai Vazhthu, presentations by partner NGOs (IMHO, VAROD, CTMA, Vanni Sangam), cultural performances (fusion dance, Bharatha Kalai), cheque presentations, guest speaker Dr. Shan A. Shanmugavadivel, an auction, dinner, music & dance, and a vote of thanks by the secretary, capped off by the Master of Ceremonies Ramanan Santhirasegaramoorthi.

Inauguration of the “2009 Nihethanam” Girls’ Centre Block

A new block—named “2009 Nihethanam” in honour of Anpuneri’s founding year—was blessed and declared open by Rt. Rev. Dr. Rajappu Joseph, Bishop of Mannar and VAROD patron. The facility provides upgraded dormitory, cloakroom, and night-washroom amenities for 15 differently-abled female residents, supported by Misereor-Germany, Anpuneri Canada (VAROD Canada Foundation), and other donors.

Building on the success of the previous year’s program, Anpuneri expanded its “Dollar-A-Day” recurring donation initiative to sustain ongoing projects, with pledges directly funding village resettlement, education, and health programs

Barbecue Fundraiser

A community barbecue organized by the founding members to raise funds for portable washroom construction in Sri Lankan IDP camps. The proceeds were handed over to IMHO and this gathering became the inaugural Annual Fundraising Dinner tradition.

First Formal Anpuneri Committee Meeting

Following growing community support, Anpuneri held its first formal meeting. Attendees elected the inaugural committee and officially adopted the name “Anpuneri,” marking the transition from an informal student‐led relief effort into a registered non-profit organization.

Launch of “Dollar-A-Day” Program

To secure steady funding for relief projects, Anpuneri introduced the “Dollar-A-Day” program, through which members pledge to contribute one dollar per day, with proceeds directed to ongoing humanitarian initiatives.
